Just dropped the rear tank and need some advice on cleaning it out. Tank had about 10 gallons of rusty old fuel. Previous owner had the truck 5 years and never used it so its going on 7 now. Shower head was toast so I'll be modifying that. I hooked my fuel pump to the frame and piped it into the front tank with some check valves and a filter pre pump.

Need to toss this back in before we head out Saturday.

I checked Autozone, they sell a new one for $109.00. A clean fuel system is very important for reliability. I would not mess with a rusty old tank.

Thanks. I'll save my forearms the reaching and scraping and purchase new.

@Thewespaul you would happen to have any 38s sitting around?

No more tanks until importation opens back up. I’ve got plenty of tanks (paid for too) just can’t get them over here, about a month before Covid hit and importation was blocked I placed a bulk order through spectre because the tanks were getting quite a bit of interest, but can’t get them now. you know, of course LOL

@Thewespaul When I do my bed swap I'll definitely be in the market. Have my eyes on a service truck.

Well darn it. I was hoping that this madness was easing up a little. I guess not.

New tank is in and transfers beautifully to the front one. Glad to have both finally.

Some day I'm going to know that feeling myself again. The biggest disadvantage on having both tanks working is having to pay to fill them both up.

Diesel is currently cheaper than gas here so it was only $50!

NOT in Calif, where it is about 75 cents to a dollar, per gallon, more than gasoline.

Everywhere has its upsides and downsides. A lot more downsides in certain areas these days

Looking at the trip, we should get into too much trouble with pricing!

Flipping thru the channels the other night and the classic "smokey and the bandit" was on. I paused on the channel long enough to notice diesel fuel price sign that said .47 cents per gallon! I remember those days when diesel fuel was far cheaper than gasoline. Also remember when gas prices first exceeded $1.00 and all of the mom\pop small stores couldn't afford to buy new pumps capable of calculating fuel prices over .99 cents per gallon. Often they set the pump for half price per gallon and posted a sign at the pump stating your total will be doubled when paid at the counter.
