4.09 and 4.11 is close enough (common differences in Dana and Sterling ratios), but 3.9 and 4.10 is really pushing it. You could very well never notice it on soft surfaces, but it very well could accelerate wear on parts or damage things. I could not find a Sterling 3.90 ratio BUT a 3.55 gear set has 39 teeth on the ring gear and 11 on the pinion. Double check your counts! If the rear is 3.55 DO NOT use 4 wheel drive until you get it fixed.

It sounds like you may have missed a gear on the ring... looking on Randy's R&P page shows no 3.90 gears:

thanks for allthe replies , now Im on the hunt for 3.54 gears for D60 front . (reverse rotation) It seems that gear ratio is the most expensive. 4.10s are cheepcookoo does anyone know of any fitment issues in going from 4.10 -3.54 (say a diffrent carrier or anything) Randys Ring and Pinon seems to be the cheepest Thanks ED

A quick search shows there is no carrier split on a front 60 (atleast that is what the internet says - so take it with a grain of salt) but the split would be at 4.10 anyway so you are good. Have you done a gear swap before? Danas can be more costly than the Sterling. They need set up bearings and and can be a bit more of a pain to correctly do a 60 front than a Sterling rear (less to remove/replace when doing the rear). Are you going to be doing any major hauling? Either way, good luck!

I have a dana60 with a 3.54 ratio and I need a 4.10.

My 60 is a 1986 with king pins and low miles. Everything is greased up and tight with very little wear. If yours has kingpins and is nice, I would trade. Or we could just swap ring and pinions.

I am also looking for a locking diff for my front dana60 if anyone has one?

Maybe we could trade. I am 20 miles south of Cleveland, right off I71. (44133) I am 75 miles away from you.
