Rattling front brakes?

How do I get the front brakes to stop rattling? They have the keeper springs that go on to hold the pads and I put new caliper pins in not long ago.
That stopped it for a while, but now it's doing it again.
I did lube the pins when I put them in too.
I have tried bending the pins with pliers to make them tight but that only goes a few days.
Any help is definitely appreciated!

Have you determined if it's the whole caliper rattling or just the pads rattling? You can usually take the wheel off and turn the rotor back and forth and figure out which one it is.

It's the whole caliper rattling. When I put new pins in they fit tight but after a while they loosen off and the caliper starts jumping around again. I tried bending them out to make them tight again but it didn't last long.

You might need a shim plate....my truck had them before I tore the D50 out, but the calipers fit tightly on the D60 so they won't rattle.

What is a shim plate? Every truck I've seen with the rattling brakes was fixed with new pins. Until this one. So I guess I've never seen one.

it's just a thin piece of sheet metal that is formed to fit between the caliper and the knuckle to take up space as the caliper wears on the knuckle. Then the pin gets driven back into the slot. It takes up a little space as the caliper wears. My D50 setup had them on both sides.

The other option, would be to replace the caliper.

I would think so, you might have to go to the dealer if the parts stores don't have them. If you are handy with tin, you could manufacture your own.

I've never done any metal bending so that is probably out but I'll see about getting a pair tomorrow. Thanks for the info.

I slid a peice of rubber between the flat spring and the knuckle-stopped it for me.

Well no one around here has ever heard of the caliper shims. They all want to sell me new calipers because mine are "worn out". There isn't that much play in them. It's just a little.
I found one place online that has them, here:

You lubed the pins, but did you lube the brake pads? Remember to use some syl-glide or other silicone brake grease on the backs of the pads . not only does it cut down on squeeling, but it helps keep the pad incontact with the caliper piston when retracting.

No I didn't lube the pads. I didn't know that I should. But now I can go back and do it.
