The bull moose and injectors are on my list, eventually.
I can only cover three or four problems at a time.

Had major set back yesterday.

Damn ice, I've lived here 20+ years, this is the worst I've seen it.

Slid backwards down the hill, and jacked my trailer yesterday.
Killed my lower bedside.

Didn't look that slick, if I'd known, i'd put my chains on...
Oh well
Just another thing to fix this summer

We do sell rebuild kits, but we do also warn customers that 9 out of every 10 do it yourself jobs seem to fail. This is just statistical observation from 28 years of watching people try. Usually when they do come back with the turbo, it is in a basket, and there is little left for us to be able to do anything with. Just understand going into it, that you don't get a warranty when you do it yourself, and that any money you save, will be lost plus a ton more if you don't succeed.

I understand, if she blows, she blows.
I'll just replace her with a HX35.
It would defiantly suck, but it is what it is.

If she falls, i have no one to blame but myself.
Like i said before, i have 20+ years of turning wrenches, but this is my first turbo.
So we'll she where it goes.

wrenching is wrenching, fabricating is fabricating, and machining is machining.
ive done all 3 for a long time.
having a compressor wheel taking out a couple of valves and sticking in my pistons for a 500 ish job is not how i wanna end up building another.

i can guarantee you this, if it goes, it wont be at low RPMS

I know exactly what your saying.

What i meant was, i hope it doesn't blow, if it does, i hope it doesn't hurt anything else.
But if it does...i guess I'll fix it, and lesson learned.

I don't know the exact specs on the shaft, fins, etc.
But..the shaft and fins showed no signs of excessive wear, and everything was symmetrical.
After reassembling, shaft play was eliminated.

The original bearings however, did show wear, but i wouldn't think it was excessive. As they checked out about .150 thinner and 1/16" shorter than the replacement bearings

I do plan on testing it with a compressor, and about 150 psi of air blowing into the exhaust impeller while upside down and full of oil, the plan is to get the shaft spinning to the approximate speed of normal operation, and feel for vibration.

If anything feels abnormal, I'll definitely send her off

i am a precision machinist by trade.
IMO, i would not attempt this without these 2 little expensive tools.
now, i machine ceramics, its alot different than metals.
the average person cannot eyeball 0.001"
ive been machining for 25 years. and my eyes and hands are only good to about .003"
do your research first before attempting this!
Good luck!!!!

Thanks man, i appreciate it.
But no worries, if i throw the air to her and get her up to speed, and she walks off the table, I'll keep everyone posted.

I ain't too proud to admit i fouled up
