if i bought a 1st gen with the old style grille, would a [oem] chrome grille bolt on? im not diggin the plastic crap look, but dont want that fancy blingy crap either. just a oem or oem style chrome grille. thanks

The OEM grille on my '93 is a plastic chrome deal. It's cracked too. I don't know but the older '89-'91 grille may be aluminum or some other metal.
If you're looking for a replacement, you can search for a used one at a junkyard or order one off JC Whitney and have it shipped to you.

From what I've gathered, the intercooled grills are quite a bit different than non-intercooleds and do not bolt on.
My grill looks great since I painted black around the "chromed" bits. Looks real sharp.
Like this, only around all the dash bits. I had a picture of the whole grill at some point, but little gnomes stole it from me.
