Questions about an electric pump

At the local gas station/parts store, they have a small eletric pump for 35.99. Its like 7 psi 35 GPM mr gasket pump. Anyways where would a man install this pump at, and would it replace the lift pump?

Everything I've seen (except the Carrier pumps that will actually "lift" fuel) has been mounting on the frame rail right at the tank selector valve. *Most* electrics are pushers, not pullers so below the fuel level, and as close to the tanks as possible.

Yes, it'll replace your mechanical lift pump. Pull it out and block of the hole with a big block Chevy block-off-plate.

I used a cheapy ($35ish) Mr. Gasket electric on my old 6.2 Chevy and it worked fine. When I do my Ford I'll either go with one of those Carrier pumps or the Holley Red.

Just remember, whatever money you hope to save by going cheap, will be spent if that pump lets you sit.

IMHO there is no need for an electric pump.
a good mechanical pump will do ya wonders.
if ya really want a cheap electric one , I have one I pulled off of the last truck I un mickeymoused.
put a new LP, IP and injectors in and it runs like a top.

Well i need to buy new injectors anyways, there there originals with 210k on them (they have that pretty gray paint on them)

I say stay away from those little cheap "box" shaped pumps. I've had more than one of them quit working on me.

I use holley red and has worked fine for years even pumping 100% wvo. I heard of some other pumps that will lift fuel but those also have some problems with high fuel temp. I finally decided to keep the HR and have a spare if quits some day, also this pumps can be rebuild. Btw if You ever plan to run on wvo remove the copper/brass screen mesh inside the pump, the wvo WILL eat it.

I ran a cheapie from the parts store (Master Pump brand) and never had a problem with it. Didn't see a reason to get an expensive Holley and still don't today.

I didn't see the need for a Holley either, and have been running a Carter (see sig) for about 2 years now. It was like $59 and offers a good pump for half the price of the Holley. I sold Carter pumps for a long time and had little problems although when my primary filter went, I was thinking it was the pump and had second thoughts!

I'll second that on the Carter pump, 2-3 years w/no problems diesel or wvo.

also good pump is Duralift Fillter Pumps #40222 12 v 9-11.5 psi with a 10 foot lift 33 gph flow rate good pumps
