Question about an old style banks

I recently purchased a banks turbo that is complete except the lid to the air box. I have searched for a lid with no success. Is it possible to remove the old rectangular air box and replace it with a different type filter system? Any help and any pics would really be appreciated.

By the way, it is on a 1990 F350 7.3.....a bit of info that some would deem important....lol

Thats how I did it. The rectangular airbox is a huge pain to remove and reinstall, and since it covers practically everything on the top of the engine, you have to do it a lot. So I got rid of it entirely.

Also, if you want to do this, I have exhaust tubing and 4" aluminum tubing left over I'd be happy to sell ya.

check out my pictures, i changed from the big square banks to a much better short ram air. Turbo spins up great now. I did very similar to TWeatherford except I welded up exhaust pipe where he used the rubber elbow. Not sure how well the radiator hose will hold up but it's probably doing great

Hardest part would be finding the intake hat, you can also just make one. Our intake hole is the same size as carburetors . 5" or so off the top of my head.

I also still have my old banks intake box

Would you be willing to sell that old box so I can get the lid until I can come up with all the stuff to manufacture a better system?

I have the box and the lid, you can have it. My setup is the one that has the box seperate from the intake hat.
