i put guages in my truck on may 23, then the next day left out for the ranch in way west texas . the boost hit about 32 psi, trans temp never got above 170 degrees (that was in nashville tenn in HEAVY traffic, pyro stayed around 550-600 degrees. That was all with a 46 foot eby cattle trailer. My question is i straight piped the truck and now the pyro stays about 600 degrees, when you get on it it goes up fast but never above 750-800 then gors down very fast and back to 600. with or w/o the trailer it dose this is it normal or ok ?

First off, I'm just going to go out on a limb here and say you have a PSD. For a 7.3 that would mean your running a tuner to get that boost, and might be able to hit that stock with a 6.0 PSD.

Anyways, where is the thermocoupler located? Downpipe?

Whoa, I'm in the 6.0 forum, sorry :D. Still, where is the thermocoupler located? If its in the exhaust manifold, or at least pre turbo, that sounds really cool, almost to cool to be honest. If its after the turbo, that just might be normal.

Your pyro temps sound low but.... where is the thermocouple located? If it is post turbo it could be as much as 400 degrees off which would make your 800 actually closer to 1200.

the thermocoupler is directly behind the turbo by the bend in the downpipe. the truck is a 2004 6.0 4x4,crewcab,9 foot flatbed.

Then it might be alright. Like Mike said, you can see up to a 400* drop, so 800* is like 1200* at the manifold. I would limit it to 800* though if I were you, just to be on the safe side. That is, unless the truck is stock, then you should be all good (up to its GVCW).

What kind of gauges did you install?

The truck is stock we didn't even stop to check the weight. we run our thucks hard and expect alot out of them. I bought the truck with 15,000 miles on it and this trip will bring it to 250,000 miles on the odometer. Reason why i am asking is i gotta go to mclead, Montana leaving at 2:30 in the morning.
