surprisingly it does matter!
but not by much.
i spent all morning doing this, but i think it was well worth it.
all torquing sequence was the same.
70 ft lbs, 90 ft lbs and 110 ft lbs.
normally regular bolts would get torqued down to 75 then 95,
but i used the sequence of the studs and girdle to eliminate and difference in the clamping method.
i did all 5 mains on the first round.
they were all the same.
so i decided to go through the process on just #3, the thrust bearing.
the first round was with just 2 bolts.
110 ft lbs.
oops i forgot to snap a pic of the caps w/ 2 bolts installed.
= .003"
2nd round, all 4 bolts tightened to 110 ft/lbs
< .003"
now these aer pretty much guesstimates, cant really get down to the thenth's
and finally with studs and girdles in place torqued down to 110 ft/lbs
kinda hard to see in the pictures, but with the studs and girdle, its more like 0.002"
either way tollerances should be .0011 - .0036
which im well within!
crankshaft end play was .003
should be .0025-.0085
