any bad reps for off road fuel on these engines?

It is the exact same stuff, just dyed RED on account of being non-taxable.

Also, it is subject to state sales-tax if used for any non-farming purpose.

You either pay the sales-tax at the register, or fill out a farm-use tax-exempt form. ;Really

I've run my 7.3 on that from new in 1990 to 1998 when I lived in the country and had my own farm diesel tank. Never had any problems. I think I got better MPG on it then regular diesel.

As they said, it'll work...but, if you're driving the truck on the road, you're potentially at risk of getting caught and possibly some MAJOR legal trouble. I don't remember what the exact fine is, but it's something ridiculous...

A company I used to work for got caught twice in the time I worked there. Not in pickups but in heavy trucks. The fine was around $10,000. They were just idiots and thats all there is too it. You WILL get caught in a semi. In a pickup you are pretty safe, and in these trucks just add some WMO and no more red ;)
