I've been having an interesting issue that I wonder if anyone here might be able to help me with?

Could be one of a few things in no particular order

- rear vss sensor failure (and or gap incorrect due to rust.
- psom failure
- wiring between the two failure
- very bad u joint/anything that would cause major driveline vibration
- tone ring issues (missing teeth, warpage, list goes on)

First thing I would do is look at the rear end. Often times a visual inspection will tell alot, and a ton of this systems problems can come from that direction

Can you tap into your vss with a battery powered oscilloscope? I just got through chasing a similar gremlin out of my van.

Mine was an intermittent in the PSOM. Solved by a replacement from eBay.

One thing I did see was my rear end was beginning to wear, and the vss sensor, which is magnetic, had attracted a lot metal filings, which were shorting the magnetic field the sensor uses to see the teeth of the tone ring.
