I'm looking for a set of 18s for my 97 f250... Need something with a high weight rating and would prefer them to be black or mostly black. Really don't like chrome. I was set on 17" steel bulletholes but everyone says the 18" tires have a higher load capacity than the 17" tires. Anyone have any input

I had 12 X 16.5 with a weight rating of E but those numbers do not work in today's tires. I worked construction and my truck was a 1992 F-350 4 X 4 with the 7.3 and ZF-5. Never had a single problem.

I don't think there's a direct correlation with tire size to weight capacity.
Load range is load range.
Personally, I like my 16's. Easier to find tires, and usually cheaper.
