Okay I know there are threads on here that say this but i'm having a hard time finding them when I search. What are some numbers you guys a laying down at the rear wheels? hp and torque? I plan on adding power to it but I need a direction to go. From the threads I have found I've heard a lot of talk about 400 hp+ and nothing has happened. i'm would like to see what can be done with these engines because I love my 86 and the ole IH engine. sorry for the long thread just wanting some ideas becuase i dont know where to start or what to do. I'm open to any and all opinions also this truck isnt gonna be just a toy it will be used as a truck too. thanks

In the FAQ sticky there is a list of dyno runs as well from the 2009 Rally. And a few other's as well. No one has 400 dyno proven HP that I've seen. But several guys are in the process of building up some engines......... Ron being one of them. Me personally, I don't want that kind of power from my IDI. I'm using a DT466 for my high horsepower fix. But, 400 HP certainly isn't my target for that engine.

NMB2 over at PSN dynoed at 292/614 and that was without his water/methanol on too. He also has a compressor upgrade planned to add to that soon. His engine is a pretty detailed build and it takes quite a bit of work to get that high. You just need the fuel and the air to get there. With a turbo from the big 3, you won't hit too much more than 225/460 if you even do hit that level. There is also another build that is starting over at FTE. Their aim is 400-500hp. It should be a unique build. And as was said before, Ron is building a stroker engine that should make some power also...

I'm not looking for outrageous numbers just enough to be able to scoot and have some fun, I know these engines cant keep up with the new diesel, but I would like to be able to not have a slow poke either. I'm looking for some sh*t and get.

if someone where to try and hit even 300 what would it take. I no fuel, turbo,studs, port and polish heads, other head work. also something I was wondering the intake could it be replaced with the intake like the early powerstrokes have?

Take a look at at NMB2's build over at PSM. He probably overbuilt it for 300/600 but it runs amazing and being overbuilt is better than being underbuilt IMO. Also talk to Ron here at OB. He goes by Diesel_Dog_Catcher here. He is having Barnett High Performance build his stroker engone. Iirc he said the stroker kit would upstroke his 6.9 to about a 7.7 or 7.8 or something like that. They are also lowering the compression quite a bit using custom pistons and rods. I think that engine will be more than capable of 300hp if he gets enough fuel to go with his parallel twin turbo setup he has planned. Pretty much to sum it up, 300hp is doable but you just have to tear into the engine a lil bit. As far as reliability and simplicity go the numbers in Typ4's signature are easily attainable with most bolt ons and maybe a cam swap and head studs too. It all depends what you want from your engine.
