Newest problem

Well one of the many. I just had the whole front end redone right before the Chattanooga rally. Well I started hearing this poping noise from the front. Since a friend of mine did the work he said the he would get it taken care of. Low and behold I have already wore out a brand new set of tie rods. They have about 3/4" of slop in them and have been on not real long. Also explains why the thing won't hold an alignment. So now I have to tear it apart get the parts warranteed and put it all back together. He also told me that a steering stabilizer would do wonders for my front end, hence my other post. Just another day in the life I guess.

I can't answer your question, but where did You order the tie rods? Is there bushings for them or is it neccesary to buy a hole set of them? I may need to do mine since they've never been done.

I got mine from O'Reillys. Don't get there house brand. Thats what I just broke. I reordered new MOOG ones so I guess we'll see. They are not rebuildable that I know of. I think was around $200 for the inners, outers and connecting sleeves. And that is for the MOOG stuff.

Ex I just got a front end kit from P-S-T poly graphite bushings drag link tie rods and all the goodies for 300. Are you going to Jimmy Cone I'm going to bring the kit with me if you want to check it out

Another vote for Moog. But this P-S-T stuff sounds interesting, any more info?

This may be common with ouse brand stuff. I bought a draglink from Advance and it bent on me within 2 months, they told me I was SOL, What the heck, took my chances with a new one and things are still good after 1.5 years. Sometimes teh quality on these aftermarket parts leaves something to be desired. Oh well. Hope the MOOG stuff works out well for ya,

your tag mentions the 4in lift......i dont think a drop pitman comes with that kit might be wrong....but if you dont have one, it will eat those tie rods like no ones business......learned that the very expensive way. the tie rod assemblies should have the stock geometry.......if it doesnt.......there are issues.

yea i put a rancho 4" on my truck and it came with the pitman drop but it dosent have the same geo. so i have about a 15-20deg dead spot. Superlift makes a stearing kit for our trucks that looks nifty :Sly (Dessert runner if i remember right)

I did get the drop pitman arm with my kit. The angles do still look a little steep though. The outers are doing just fine its just the inners. O'Reillys has a good warranty on there parts so I am good there but I have to go through tearing it all apart and getting re aligned. That is what sucks. If this doesn't work then I may be looking for some new steering solutions.
