I'm assembling componets for my filtration system. Here is a list of what I have so far:

250 Gallon square water tote
100 gallon Vertical tank
2 35 Gallon water tanks
empty filter housing
1 hp Dayton water pump
1 sand filter for a pool

Also a small collection of valves and fittings to get me started. I'm hoping to have the 250 gallon as my dirty oil in, pre-filtered though a paint strainer of course, then pumped into the filter housing, and maybe a centrifuge, the have the 100 gal vertical tank as my end product. I don't know if i can use the pool sand filter for anything. It has a selector valve to direct the flow.

Any suggestions? Am I missing something?

Thanks for all your input and suggestions!

This is another members description that was posted up a few years back and I have been using it for a few years now.

Works well until you forget to turn a valve off then it is cleanup time ...

that looks great! What filters are you running? I have 1 housing but nothing inside of it. Is there a part number? I'm trying to get more of the inline undersink style filters. I've seen a few videos where they have spin on filters too. I still want a centrifuge.

The upflow filter that drips into the mix tank needs to be about a 30 micron filter, this filter gets alot of changing, usually clogs at about 100 gallons.
I use a napa 1769 filter there, but you can use alot of other styles there are too many to just pick one.

The mix tank I use an actual filter cart and that machine is the final cleanup and the workhorse.

Got the machine used for $600 and filters retail for about $50 each

So far I have cleaned 200 gallons with a pair of 10 micron filters that are not even close to being clogged.

it cleans up 55 gallons in 45 minutes.

that looks awesome. I wish I could find a deal like that. I'm getting closer to filtering my own oil.

IMHO save the time from building this rig and invest in a Centrifuge.

I'm looking at the centrifuges. looks to be about 175 for a basic one. Any suggestions to a particular brand or model worth getting?

I'm a big fan of PABioDieselSupply.com

Joe is good people, very fair prices, and his stuff works well for me, and has for ~3 years now

X2 on a PA Bio Diesel centrifuge

Great products and prices and even better customer service.
