I got my newly rebuilt transmission in, and it is not going well at all. Every gear is reverse! reverse is reverse, nuetral is reverse, drive is reverse, and so on. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Im gonna take it to the guy monday, but I was just curious if anyone else has ever even heard of this problem.

Check your shift linkage and make sure its giving you full travel and is correctly matched to the steering column shifter. If that checks out, it could be the manual valve inside that hasn't been connected properly to the shift arm on the side of the transmission.

And give your transmission builder a call before you get too deep in there. If you can move the shift lever to each of the quadrants of the column without any noticeable binding then its probably not the external linkage.

Is that the C6 in your sig?
Reverse is the 1st detent to engage, if after that it stays in reverse I would think that the somewhere the linkage is slipping. Jackup one rear wheel and use a jack stand for safety and block all the rest. Disconnect the shift rod at the tranny, start the motor, crawl under and shift manually thru the gears. If it stays in reverse then something is wrong inside the tranny, if not then your linkage is screwed up someplace. There are two reverse clutches in the C6,one is HI reverse and one is Lo reverse. Are you sure you have vacuum to the tranny from the VRV on the IP.
Backing up all the way to the tranny shop could be fun.
There is no binding when I move it through the gears. How do I check for a vacuum problem? I am kind of curious about that because even in reverse it is still not as strong as it should be. You have to give it a lot of pedal to get it to move well. And yes it is the c6.
Alright well I just tested my linkage by jacking up the rear end and taking the linkage off and manually going through the gears from under the truck. Park works. But past that, everything is reverse. So there is no way it was a problem in my linkage. It has to be something internal wrong on the tranny.
