Well, as the title says... for $1.00 I will be picking up next week the truck. It is my mother-in-laws truck and for a couple of years it has mostly been sitting with them running it about 300 miles in a year. So, for the last couple of years I had been offering her $0.50 for it. This year I upped the amount to $1.00... and she decided to take it, 50% increase. Any way, this past week end I finanly really looked at the truck and went through it to make sure it was going to make the 900 plus mile trip from PA down to Fl. A lot of rust, some oil leaks, a small diesel leak.... but all in all, not too bad. I drow it around quite a bit...
But I have some questions for the forum. Now, I previously had a 2002 Powerstroke that I had made many, many upgrades and such. I also own a motorcoach with a Cummins ISL-400 engine. So I have been around Diesels... I love Diesels. So much so that everybody that used to ride in my 2002 F250 always asked me why I never listened to any music while in my truck... to which I would always answer... I do not need music when I can listen to beautiful 7.3 liter Diesel with the great turbo whine.... what can get any better.
Anyway... the questions
1. The truck water temperature just does not get up to where it should be... I asked my MIL if she knew if anybody ever removed the thermostat... which she did not know. Typically, diesels like to run at about 200 degrees. Now... though I did not spend a lot of time looking... I could not find where the thermostat housing even was on the beast. Can someone help point it out for me.
2. As I mentioned... I have some diesel leaking from what I think is some sort of return line. At the injector there is tube connected to a sleeve around it, that goes off to the next injector and so on... So, what is this, what is it called and what does it do?
Thanks
