New Pump and Injector Install Timing

Just got done putting on a (slightly used (2000mi)) Moose pump & a set of Russ' injectors. I got the truck started again . And it has a bad shake/miss at idle

I've got the pump just sitting straight up for the most part, and I've got a Kent moore J33300A pulse timing meter to use when I get the time in the next week, but I'm not comfortable really bringing this thing above 1000RPM right now with how much its shaking the truck.

Is this shake just really advanced/retarted timing? The truck starts darn near instantly now with this new stuff

Sounds like you have a problem. My suggestion is find the correct diagram of the injection pump cylinder numbering and make sure all the lines are going to the correct cylinder. They can be mixed up. Maybe loosen each cylinder hard line and see if the engine runs worse or no change. Might be able to isolate the cylinder if thats what it is. I'm not thinking its a bad cylinder or valve either. Might be an injector got some dirt in it or many injector things. You can move the pump retarded and see what that does. Doing that is better than advancing an already too far advanced engine. How long did this engine sit not running.

I'll check the diagram but the lines were never removed from their clamps, but good to check anyway.

Truck pulled in the garage on 8/30/14 and started again for the first time last night. Work included camshaft swap, new oil pan, water pump, seals, gaskets, pump and injectors.

I've run it for about 2 minutes. It's been started twice

It could take a few to clear the pump and lined and inj. They will rattle to beat the band till the air get outta the system!
I cant see details on my fone right now, but 2 min's possibly aint enuff time!

Since Gary mentioned checking that the IP hard lines are connected to the proper cylinders, I thought I'd toss in a picture to help with that. The picture, I believe, came from Oldbull8, who may or may not currently be in Florida.

I would also Crack each line open at the injector with it running. Sometimes can help get the air out. Just do one at a time.

sounds like a sticking injector.take the truck out and run it.see if she clears up.might try pouring in a quart or two of ATF.she'll probably loosen up after a little run or a few revs.don't be too scared of it lol.you might have a bad injector and need to swap it out.

^ i swear these IDIs benefit most from the "italian tuneup" when you romp on them and wind em up, they seem to run better. I think its hard to mess an IDI upo, just give it oil, coolant and fuel, and it will just...go.

I'll let her run for a bit tonight and see what we can figure out. Maybe dump a gallon of ATF in the tank. The new Facet pump sure moves some fuel! Can hear it returning to the tank while waiting on the GP light to go out!

^ u have 3/8 feed and 5/16 return? just woindering as this is the size i went with for my pump. havent fiured it yet

My lines are correct. #1 line was loose above the adapter and that fixed the rough idle. I think she's pretty retarted as it smokes a nasty burn-your-eyes white.

ALSO, breaks up BAD at 1000 RPM but is good at 1100 and above...
