Hi,
I recently bought a '92 F-250 N/A truck and then a '91 with a 2nd gen sidewinder kit on it (bought it for the turbo). I'm wanting to swap the turbo from one truck to the other, but was wondering if there are any special tricks, tips, , should dos, could dos,etc...

I'm currently hung up trying the get the 4 nuts off of up-pipe to turbo flange. Can't find a combination of socket/ extension to get it off. Will take a look at banks install guide, maybe it will help.

I've also read that Industrial Injection has rebuild kits for these turbos from a thread on here, is there other/ better options for this?

Last question, and i haven't searched this one yet, but is there a different turbo / wheel / etc. that will mount up in place of the gen 2 sidewinder that will perform better?

Thanks,
-Couch

I am currently removing a turbo from a parts truck as well. I have removed the intake and it made getting those four flange bolts off easier. It's just going to be a knuckle busting bear to get it out. Mine has a few bolts on the back of the block that hold the turbo pedestal on which are a pain to get at. I'm scrapping the truck so a sledge hammer and a 2x4 gave me some more clearance between the transmission tunnel.

I know there is someone around here who rebuilds turbos, not sure who again.

You probably already know you will need to turn up the IP a flat. Other than that no tricks that I know of.

Type4 (aka Russ) turbo guru. and injectors, Torker camshafts.
Look up " Conestoga diesel" online for injectors, injector pumps and turbos.
R&D diesel injectors, injector pumps, turbos, head studs and go fast parts.

Ok, so next question... Egt, boost, and oil pressure? Or are the stock cluster real gauges for oil and coolant?

What brand gauges are preferred and pods?

Stock klusterf×#$ craptastic guages are lil more n glorified lights for fools.

Asking what brand guage is a personal issue based on past experience and so forth.

He may have been banned for whatever reason, long ago.
but that kid is making some serious power with IDI's and coming up with cool new ideas and setups for turbos and whatnot.
Not just turning up pumps. I follow him on Facebook. Awesome stuff.

Justin has made huge advances independantly of OB.

He makes good products offers good service and support.

As anyone he has made mistakes along the way however he is a better man now for it.

I applaud his efforts and support him and anyone willing to work at improving these engines and provide a quality service to customers.

There are quite a few folks and businesses that help keep our trucks alive

Mel
Russ
Jason
Justin
Gary

To name a few

They all deserve credit cor their support of the IDI
