Alright Here is the problem. Just replaced my solid flywheel clutch and pressure plate. every thing in right go down road and still slipping. no smell. took it to my mechanic which is reliable, dropped tranny and clutch. on flywheel there is a plate. unsure what this plate is. has some play in it could this be my problem? he doesnt know cause never seen that set up before. can any give me info on this or some tips thanks

Now are you saying you used a SOLID mass flywheel and clutch setup?
Or are you using a stock configuration?
Now the stock setup is called a Dual Mass Flywheel commonly called DMF. It is a dual flywheel setup with springs to dampen impulses from the engine and help stop ROLL over noise in the transmission.
There are Single Mass Flywheels SMF available as replacement and require a special clutch disk and pressure plate. Mixing and matching the two different setups is NOT in any way recommended.
I'd suggest getting on here and posting some pictures to show us what you are talking about and thus we can better provide suggestions and methods of help.

Sounds like a DMF to me and I wonder if you've got a SMF clutch disk...and PP
Does flywheel with this added plate move side to side a slight amount and are there springs on one side like a clutch disk would have? If so that's a DMF.
Got a cell phone? take pics with that.
Guess gotta wait till shops open eh?

Springs are on back side ....I'm sure if you search DMF here you will see the DMF...

Yea definately sounds like a dual mass flywheel to me too from what ive seen. You may have a single mass pressure plate and disc on a DMF flywheel causing incorrect clearances like said above. I'd go back and check your part numbers for the clutch kit you got first also.
Wow do i feel stupid. i do have a DMF but springs are broke hence why clutch was slipping. so i am going to install a SMF . I have the clutch and everything but not the flywheel. my question is can i just buy the flywheel and will it bolt right up with no added hardware or modifications. or do i have to buy a specific kit to do this. i can pick up a flywheel for 200 bucks. is that all i need to buy?

you need the correct pressure plate and clutch for the smf. the clutch for the smf has several springs around the hub. not sure how to id the pp or whether it is truly even different

I believe the bolts may be different but dont quote me on that. either way thats a simple fix, just measure them out and make sure to get quality grade 8 bolts.
