I have avoided working on these for enough years, and decided maybe it was time to start learning on them. Well I think I picked the wrong one to start with.
Truck was hauled in for quiting when hot and no start hot. Checked hpop psi on scan tool while cranking hot and get 250psi. While driving, when ecm is commanding 3k psi+, barely get 2000psi.
The reason I am scared to work on this truck is that it was almost 10qts low on oil, and 2 gallons low on coolant. There is a fairly quiet knocking noise that stays the same cold to hot. I changed the oil, since it was soo low, and the magnetic drain plug had some fuzz on it.
shouldnt be too big a deal figuring out if it is a bad hpop or just a leak, but hate to spend money on it if it is a ****.
