Need a Brushguard

I posted this couple of months ago, but I'm still on the hunt for a brushguard for a '91 F250 4X4. I've searched the internet and the marketplace here with no luck. I'm looking for a substantial brushguard or frontend replacement like a Ranchhand or equivilant, preferably in black, for my daughters' "extreme truck makeover". Any leads would be greatly appreciated since it appears that no companies make them anymore. Otherwise it's off to the fabricator...

I'm in the same boat Tom. I look at any F series 80-86 truck sitting in yards for sale, just in hopes of talking the seller out of the brush guard.

Get the magizine Diesel Power, I dont know if they sell it where you guys are at, but its got some badass bruss guards, stuff you dont see any where.

I lent the mag to my son, I'll try to get it back from him this weekend and post the info.

Dont buy one till you see what I,m chatin about .

I have before me the LMC catalogs from this past winter and the current summer issue. The brush guard's shown in the winter catalog for 87-91 trucks, in black, $139.95. Its not in the new one. Why are they getting rid of this stuff now?

Probably Chinese, but if it fits, it would make a great pattern for a nice painted black steel one. I've also been thinking maybe we should start test fitting PSD bumpers. If we can find out what the differences are, we might be able to adopt modern stuff with minimal inconvienence.

That Ebay listing says "NO F-250 or F-350 APPLICATIONS". F-150 and Bronco, yes, but not the bigger boys.

I had a very nice Smittybilt pushbar on my 81 F100... I would have loved to have put it on my diesel, or my gas F250, but, there was no way it would have cleared the front of the springs, or the shackles. Looking at the one Mel found, it looks like it extends around the bottom of the bumper, so, it too is a no-go on a 4x4 with leaf springs up front.

you guys some one needs to get some pics of the frame springs and bumper mounts and some measurements and I'll try to help you guys see if there is any difference between the 92-97 body style mounting but even them are getting hard to find

I may have your answer. Go to www.sterling-equipment.com. Paul (aka RedTruck) PM'd me this link today and they have a lot of stuff for older applications, including yours in bumpers and brushguards. Some of it is kinda jeep-like looking, but I have searched the ends of the internet and missed this one. I may be ordering one their brushguards in the next couple of days...unless someone here comes up with a better offering. That is also one of the ideas I was talking about in my PM to you a few months ago. I met a guy (welder) recently who I'm going to approach with some ideas... :Sly

That is the greatest magazine! I have had a subscription since the third issue. As a matter of fact, I just renewed it last month. I even had a letter published in it last year (as did a couple of others on this forum). I've been waiting by the mailbox for this months issue for a few days now.

Everytime it comes, I spend hours going thru the advertisers to see who and what is being offered for IDI's. It's usually very disappointing. But, if anyone comes across something promising... The problem is most companies like Ranch Hand, Buckstop, and Frontier Gear only go back one model design. Anything before that is dropped. Which is amazing because in our case the only difference between a bumper for a '91 and a bumper for a '92 is the top plate contour. I can find bumpers and brushguards for '92-97's from several manufactures, including Ranch Hand, but they wouldn't fit right on a '91. Very frustrating.

We won't even touch on the frustrations of '83-'86 guys.

got towtruck push bumpers over in the marketplace....
they were made for 80-86 and in 87-91 the factory bumpers were sectioned and welded to fill in the open areas

I want one of those for my new Dmax. Actually I like the Buckstop bumpers best and they do make one for the '92-97 Fords. I would love to find a company that makes something like that for the older Fords. Maybe.......

If your interested I will be selling this bumper on my truck pretty soon. I just picked up a warn winch bumper and won't need this one any more. It is made by Smitty Built and is very tough although not quite as tough as a ranch hand but definetly and upgrade over the stock one I would say the tubes are probably bettween 1/8 and 3/16 thick.

Not exactly what I'm looking for, but they don't make those anymore. How much would you have to have? I've got another brushguard I'm looking at, but it's kinda pricey. Possibly a full bumper like yours may be the ticket since my daughter is still learning where the front of the truck is...if you know what I mean.

Those links are for the chromed steel guards. There's black powdercoat too, and those are cheaper.
