Yeah, Its not a set of head studs:rolleyes: but a set of flywheel bolts. I broke a flywheel bolt and could not find any local. The local IH shop said they jus use grade 8's.cookoo I was not having that:backoff The stealership said they were discontinued, for $13 each I can understand why.LOL

The SMF bolts i use were 2 1/8 inches and ARP only had 1.97" bolts. I have not had these along side my engine to compare but hope the .128" difference won't hurt. We will see tomorrow. $1.88 each was pretty cool too.

THe ARP hardware is lighter and definitely has a distinct feel to it. This put me back a week, I do hope to get the new engine in tomorrow.;Really Any thoughts on the length difference?

X2 on the above posting....:rotflmao:angel: I don't think you will have any issues with the shorter bolts. Just make sure you use a thread sealant on them... If you don't you surely will have an oil leak all over the clutch... Those holes are drilled thru the crank flange into the oily side of the engine....:D

As an aside, you wouldn't have had any problems with *quality* grade 8 bolts ( that does not include kung fu specials from Lowes etc, we're talking only real grade 8 bolts from an industrial fastener supply that provides proper tested/graded fasteners)
When I needed new flywheel bolts, I went to the ford dealer and it was a rather amusing display. The parts guy first tells me they dont get them from ford, and have NEVER ordered a set, they just use grade 8s from Fastenal whenever they need flywheel bolts ,and when I asked to see what size they were in the parts listing for length, all teh sudden it became REAL important that *I * use their bolts and order up a set when he noticed that they were over 13 bucks each and he carefully turned the computer monitor away so I could no longer see the dimensions  Have I mentioned this week what a pack of sleezebags these guys are.

Well, the ARP hardware is in is final resting place. I hope a good dose of Locktite
red will hold the bolts in place and keep the oil on the right side of the engine.

I would never have used red in this area but blue works just fine... RTV works great too.....You may have issues removing them in the future because of the red.... Hope not for your sake....:dunno
