Muffler removal

I removed my muffler on my N/A 6.9. It Had 2.5" exhaust. It was too loud. I put a Gibson on it. Same power, quieter though. I recently installed an early model ATS turbo with complete 3" exhaust and the muffler (which looks like the Gibson) that came with the ATS donor rig.

Those of you that have removed the muffler on turbo's rigs, how does it sound?

With a 3"dia straightpipe....
you can hear the turbo spool up below 2k rpm.
above 2k it turns into a roar.
decel below 2k rpm its pretty mellow.
decel above 2k rpm there's a beautiful "jake brake" sound that will wake the neighborhood. OOOOHHHHH YYYYEEEAAAAA

Take it off, You don't need a muffler with a turbo. The bigger the pipe, the better the sound! It will sound sweet!

By all means! I run mine w/o a muffler and it almost sound like a big block gas motor! Sounds good.

I don't think I have ever heard a ford IDI turbo straight piped. This isn't a ford of course, but its a straight piped turbo diesel so close enough right. This is my 95 Chevy 6.5TD with a 4" straight pipe.
