Ken,you forget.Todays diesels are all computer controlled.Ours ain't.With outs to make the most power it HAS to smoke.You will be overfueling at lower RPMs but once it gets wound out and the manifold pressure builds it will clear up and have the right mixture.That is why older diesels smoked.
True but i am refering to excessive smoking. Even the IDI's can make respectable power without leaving a smoke cloud a blind man can follow. If anyone wanted to get serious about it thats all they have to do to start is add a turbo. In my opinion adjusting a diesel just to make smoke is outrite silly. Improper maintenance and smoke is what makes emissions laws super rediculous for us. Just cuz some enviro natzi sees smoke they freak until laws are changed.
