Go out to my truck this morning - she starts rough and the idle is all over the place. I popped the hood to find the the rubber plug on the right rear return line cap is blown out and fuel is spraying all over the place. This is great because this is the morning I'm supposed to roll out to the desert to observe 4ID (two week field exercise). So in a panic I hit every parts store in Barstow, to include Ford, and no one has got the rubber pluggy thing. I finally found one meant for a vacuum line (only temporary) and got to work.

The moral of this story is: if you live in a hot dry climate, these things probably need to be replaced regularly. I still need to find one my self - and I'll probably carry a few extra just in case.

Oh, my returnline kit is only two years old.

Surprised it failed so soon.

Last year when I started driving 600 miles every other weekend, I made fuel system emergency kit. It has one return line corner cap and one straight cap, along with four o-rings and couple of glow plugs.
