I hit 16 on a trip through SE KY, but usually I get 14. If I haul a 6000# load of cattle around or use 4wd a lot for a tank I will get 10-12. My 99 PSD did the same.

I have a 94 CC SRW 4x4, all stock, but 265 mud tires and no soup bowl

I did not want a gasser for that reason. It is amasing what the media can do to something. But I agree..... because it is huge it has to get bad mileage.

You know a pickup is only suposed to get 8 or 10 MPG because it is a truck. The NightMoose blows almost everything out of the water, but.... it is a truck... so it must get bad mileage. Heck, it is even doing better than my DD Neon!

My dad has a 94 E-150 Customized Van, 4 capatins, a bed/bench in teh back and all decked out with a TV/VCR in a wood cabinet, and on one long trip, he got almost 18 out of it, and that was with 150k+ miles at the time. It has almost 235k on it now.......

My beast ever since I put the spicer 5831 3 speed brownie in it now gets 18.5-20 mpg running empty and 13.1 mpg towing heavy. Best I ever got before was 14 empty and 11.5 towing. The thing has 235/85-16 tires ( mudders on the rear, not exactly conducive to good fuel mileage ). 4.10 rear and zf5 main box Ats 088 turbo and Hypermax cowl induction in a 92 crew cab with a really heavy western hauler bed, and a 150 gal bed tank big heavy winch bumper and 12kwinch up front

With my '06 Chevy 1 ton, crewcab, 4x4, SRW, 265/70-16 BFG All Terrains, Allison 6 speed auto, and 6.6 Duramax I can get 23 with the cruise set at 65. No matter what the terrain or outside temp. Usually mostly empty or with only a couple hundred pounds of dogs and photography equipment. I haven't weighed it, but I'm assuming somewhere in the 7000 lb range.

Now when my wife drives it... she only gets about 17 MPG all around. But that's because she thinks it's a '66 Chevelle Supersport and has quite a heavy right foot.LOL

A good friend of mine was just cussing his 06 chevy duramax he just bought. He traded in an 04 dodge/cummins for it and he claims he was getting 23+mpgs with the dodge and he says he is nowhere close with the chevy. I rode with him on a 23 hour trip a few weeks ago and his instrument panel said he was only getting 12 mpg pulling an empty trailer, it was all interstate driving and he drives like an old man. We were always going the speed limit or 5 mph under.

The dodge was a 6 speed while the chevy is an Allison so maybe that hurt his mileage some too. He claims the chevy doesn't have near the power of his old truck and he is mad that he ever traded.

The Duramax was real good for fuel economy until they had to have the DPF on them. RL wow, just wow on the fuel economy with your rig. If I could get 15-16 all the time I'd be really happy.

always something in the box

15-16 mpg

I run 2 stroke oil at 128:1 not sure if it helps the mileage, but MAN is it quieter!!

My truck is primarly used on the farm these days so no accurate numbers due to lots of idleing. On my last calculated trip I pulled a 14k trailer from Tx to Va and averaged over 10mpg. This was before the turbo.

in 20k miles, and bear in mind, I was continually fighting exhaust and injector line leaks, my worst was 10 pulling from Las Vegas to Sac through Lake Tahoe, mono lake, etc. etc.(truck and trailer scaled at 15k)
best was dead heading from Mccammon ID to Nampa ID, 20 mpg. (truck empty scaled at 6500)

Typically 13-16. Towing in Cali was better than empty else where, due to the double nickel

Usually average 16 MPG but I'm towing light @ 70 MPH most of the time.

To get past 20 MPG:

Cruise set to 70 MPH
No winds,
No rain,
No canopy, or trailer or any other load,
Tail gate up,
Low traffic also helps lol.

Under those conditions I can actually chug up a 7% grade at 1500 RPM in overdrive (about 60-65 MPH). Its a strangely satisfying feeling to be able to push hills out of the way with such low revs (no smoke and EGTs at about 650).

Without the canopy the truck is 6000lbs before I step in it.

Single best run was 24.9 MPG. On the return leg of that trip it was 19 MPG, that makes the average 21.95 MPG. This shows how prevailing winds can affect MPG numbers enormously even if its just a mild breeze.

Truck in my sig, ATS DP, 4" exhaust, intake snorkel replaced with 4" hose, 285/70R17 tires, 4:10 gears, I have been averaging 16 around town, 14 if my foot gets real heavy and 10.5 pulling 10k. I've also had a return line leak the whole time, so it might get a tad better if I ever get it to stop.
