I think Russ, aka Typ4 has a factory IDI turbo setup thats been rebuilt for $1000. Its in the market place, you might have to go back a page or two to find it though.

so a turbo off a 7.3 idi will fit on a 6.9 idi

yeah same here its about 30 minutes from my house,im just going to find a wrecked one with a turbo on it

You could give me about $3500 for my turbo and I'd throw in an intercooler, aluminum piping, good engine, 6 speed tranny, dually disc brake rear end, alcoa wheels, and everything else bolted to my turbo....
