Looking for a Needle in a Haystack..Dash Pod:

I would like to install a gauges on Droopy, the same way that I have them installed on Big Ed,

so I am looking for one of these:

I only really need the bottom half as I already have the top, but would take the whole unit, Don't need gauges, just the pod.

These units were offered with the Banks System back in the day. I have bought a couple of these over the years for other members from Diesel Performance and gas here in GR, however they changed owners and got rid of all of their old stock. Probably threw the stuff in a dumpster,..

They only fit 1987 to 1991 Ford Trucks.

So if anyone has one or knows of one please let me know how much, I appreciate it!

Do ya have enough switches in there? Ya got my jeep beat by 1 switch, which will be added today when the siren goes in.

That gauge pod looks extremely clean, wish i was more help, but if i find one in my massive amount of bored surfing the web i will let ya know.

THose top pieces are available all over the place in black, just have to paint to match, the bottom just liiks like some thin wood cut to shape and wrapped with vinyl doesn't look all too terribly hard to fabricate.

Thanks, Yea I have the top piece already, there is little more to the bottom part than meets the eye. If I have to build one I can but would rather not have to if the right piece is available. I may even set it on top of the dash above the instrument cluster if it gets down to it.

some of the labels are humorous on your switchboard. i just use a code 3 switch box, they're pretty cheap and prewired with fuses and are easy to mount. 1 toggle for the outside "ditch" top lights, 1 toggle for the middle narrow beam top lights, 1 switch for the lights on my bumper, 1 toggle to put power to my inverter (its nice to have standard power to run electric impacts and such), then i have on hidden toggle for my fire/ems lights, today im adding a hidden 3 position rocker for my hidden siren. i dont like having those switches out in the open, i let too many people borrow my vehicle and i dont feel like losing my red light permit!

I can just see the look on the cops faces if you get pulled into one of those homeland security checkpoints and they see those thee switches , THose guys have zero sense of humor Of course you'd be having a heck of a time trying to explain it with 6 guys on top of you , dragging you off to the detention trailer....* but honestly, it's just a joke*

I was just looking at my dash today and wondering what I could do to add some gauges up high. I was actually thinking about cutting the right half of the dash out of a donor truck, like from the center of the speedo all the way to the right hand air duct and forward to the defrost vent. Take that piece and graft it where your pod currently is, maybe a little forward offset. Fill the front in with stainless and mount gauges. A strip of thin metal riveted to the edges could blend it into the existing dash. I don't know, just an idea.

,...I actually never thought of that situation,..I might have to try that,.

It was actually my kids idea,..so I ran with it.

Ill keep searching for them for now. However this winter when I put Ed away I can take it off and do something with it.

Yes, They made some for the side edges of the dash. They looked great. Ill search for the thread when I get some time.

WOOT WOOT!.

I found a place that carried them and they have 2 in stock, I bought them both,.. He had to go back ad pick them off a back shelf, as they weren't in the computer anymore, He is shipping them out today!

So It appears that I have found 2 needles in the haystack!
