So.. once again ran into problems.
I ordered a eBay CHRA in August with my birthday money. Finally went to rebuild the turbo today and the new CHRA has a totally different size exhaust wheel in it. Now it's probably been to long to return it.
Guess that's what I get for trying to save a couple bucks. Now I'll have to send it off to Russ or something. @typ4

Hmm that’s not a powerstroke turbo which is the normal mix up when ordering online... does the compressor side fit without issue and it’s only the turbine that is different?

Yes. The intake side fits great. Spins free with tight tolerance.

I’ve had a few guys use that exact one without issue, you must have gotten one with the wrong wheel. Try contacting the seller

looks like the cartridge for the factory turbo setup. t3 exhaust side I believe. All of the non gated ats kits I have been around are t4 exhaust side.

Good news! Sounds like they are going to let me return it for a refund.
So, where to get my 088 rebuilt now? @Thewespaul do you rebuild?

Black dog, the center section for the 093 and 088 is the same, it’s just the housing that changes between them for the t4/t3 flange.

Jeepj, that’s a pleasant surprise they are willing to refund you, I can rebuild the turbo for you, as well as do upgraded wheels on the hot or cold side if you want to get more out of the 088.

.

I was told long ago, and never question it I guess, that they were different. So, then the 085 088 and 093 kit all use the same cartridge?

Not sure on the 085 as I have not had a rebuild job on one of those, but the 088 and 093 are the same for sure. I’m would imagine the 085 is the same as well, just haven’t had the opportunity to confirm it for myself.
