I have a 93 with 4.10 and turbo'd 7.3 with 35's. I have pulled lots with this combo. I get 22 mpg empty or loaded.

I wont say bs but I will say that mileage claims are just that, CLAIMS. I have a 5spd with 4.10s and 265 tires at 70 on the highway I am turning around 2250 or so and 70 is about as fast as I wish for,

Whhhooooaaaa there SSD...whoa!

First, and this is my observation/s

MOST all gear charts are designed to work for a 1 to 1 high gear range! ALL gear charts I have read DO NOT take into account that some high gear 5th for example in our trucks are 0.76 or there abouts to 1 so your calculations in this instance are likely way off

2210 x 0.76 = 1680 RPM

You need to account for 5th gear being an over drive. Or use 4th gear for your calculations.

Please link that gear chart for us to see.

Look here for one of these charts

Not sure if that was taken into account when you did the math...just checking on this

Please confirm

And 1680 seems too low Al. 2100 is pretty right on the money on what I see going down the road and I get passed like crazy at 65 on my speedo(uncorrected).

sounds like 4:10s and 35s are a good combo.
i have 355s, zf5, 31" tire and im turning 1950 doing 60mph. not enough power there when towing anything, 4th at 2200 does just fine.

and we have 35 gallons of fuel tank... so you can go 770 miles inbetween fill ups? jesus...i clocked my truck at 17.8mpg and thought that was outstanding...

My truck was driven from my house to Atlanta, GA towing an empty 3 car hauler and back to my house with 3 cars. Truck was filled before leaving(both tanks). It is ~378 miles one way. That equates to ~21.6mpg.

See picture I posted. Keep in mind 35's may not be exactly 35's due to variances in manufactures tolerances and wear, that's why I inputted 34.75.
http://www.4lo.com/calc/gearratio.php , that got posted in the off road thread, forgot who posted it but its another calculator.

2350 is not that far up there, you are right above the pulling range 35's should net you around 2000 rpm at 70 but if you are shooting for mpg I wouldnt expect a bump due the increased height of the truck, and greater rolling resistance

Must be hauling a 24 pack of toilet paper. I can't see anyway of getting 22mpg loaded at what at least 13k plus truck so around 20k I don't think so most idi's won't even pull that much. Ron's has a brand new 7.3 banks turbo motor an he got 6.75 mpg towing less than that around 18k I believe. I have got 21 mpg on freeway unloaded fresh timing an no stops with ac on.
