on the knuckles there will be a cap bolted on from the top. has 4 bolts in it. located where a balljoint would be.

78/79 F350 and sno-fighter 250s. All 85.5 - 91 F350s. But dont get stuck on the Kingpin. A BJ 92-97 is fine. 96/97 being the best.

Good luck finding any of them at the pull and save.

IS a 96/97 BJ D60 better than a Kingpin D60. I want to a D60 swap and im not overally concerned with it being a Kingpin but if the King pin is the best then ill try for it first. I know i will leave that junkyard with a D60 if i want.

My opinion's are based on different applications, but in yours I would say the 96/97 would probably be the best. You aren't going to have any issue with strength no matter which axle you use. For your application the only advantage between any of them I see is the 96/97 having the better brakes.

if you like taking things apart to service them then get the king pin. other wise get the ball joint axle. the brakes are held on better on the ball joint axles.

the pre-80 axles have a different differential offset (side to side) than the 85 and later ones. don't get a pre-80 unless it's going in a jeep or a pre-80 truck.

maintenance is debatable IMO. my kingpin needs to be greased just as often as my old ball joint stuff.

as far as rebuilds i haven't seen anything one way or the other on which lasts longer.

for big tires and abusive wheeling i've heard that king pins are stronger. but unless you are running 40"+ tires on a 6K+ lb rig landing wheelies with the throttle pinned, it's not a big deal.

high steer is easier with kingpins too.

I've never touched my ball-joint's in the last 3yrs. Not even greased them. This is a 97 D60 under my rig.
