I just tried to find a schematic for the Explorer keyless box, but couldn't. Basically it was really simple. It needed +12v, gnd and had outputs for unlock and lock. I pulled 12V off the power for the doorlocks. I then wired in some relays on the door lock wires like you would do for any other alarm install. I didn't wire up any of the extra's like illuminated dome light or separate out the door lock functions. I made it so when you unlock it does all doors vs doing the drivers door first then the other. I did get the door keypad working. The code is on the brain box.

I did a factory system as It seems more robust and I like the keyless entry door buttons that ford does.

This is what the brain box I grabbed looks like.

The bulldog one I have on mine has worked good for about 4 years now - it was a cheap ($50-$75) system, and the locks and remote start still work well with no maintenance other than 1 keyfob battery.
