long story-i'll summarize. i bust a fuel line up north on july 4th and needed to get home for work (naturally every shop was closed). i couldve done the job by myself if i had the time and resources but didnt so was scrambling for a mechanic. my brother in laws dad is a huge car collector and hooked me up with his personal mechanic, a retired Chrysler mechanic. he had a 97" dodge duelly just like mine. naturally i asked for a peek under the hood :D . he had a k&n and i told him how not many people recommend [trying not to insult him, didnt want my brakes busted any more than they were:rotflmao] . he said the filter exceeds chryslers specs, so it was fine. i told him about the oil in the turbo. he said there is barely any oil on the filter, just enough. and the oil, if any, were to be sucked in would be so heavily mixed with air that the effect is minuscule to nothing. he was about 70 with years of experience. does any one have any facts to change my mind so i dont buy k&n?

lost in Why-homing
I have personally seen oil analysis reports from peeps running a KN filter and their silicon (dust) levels were well within range :dunno

I believe the big one with a KN is getting some grease on the lip seal for a positive seal.

I held a KN up to the sun once and the holes in there looked like you could jab a pencil thru em so for me Iwill pass but KN does work for some

each to his own I guess but do back it up with oil analyss fer sure

I would head over to BHAF... There are rather cheap in price if you go over to VulcanPerformance.com... Then throw a outerwears on it...

Currently myy BHAF is over 4 years old and 60K miles on it and the filter minder still hasn't moved...:D
