That's correct. The diameter of the cable increases at the passenger side battery to flow twice the amps from both batteries. The cable from the drivers side to the passenger side is sized to flow the current of ONE battery. Always jump from the passenger side. Yes you can do it from the drivers side with no ill effects, (doubtfull that your jumper cables can flow all 800 amps or whatever you have in your outboard source) but more power will be available if you do it correctly.

I'm trying to purge my lines after turning up the IP. I have killed the batteries cranking it over. I am doing the 30 seconds 2 minutes apart intervals. It's currently on the charger but I feel a jump may get things moving quicker since I wont have to wait 20-30 minutes to charge. I am missing the supplemental 7.3 owners guide that gives me the specifics. All I know is the driver side battery says not to jump from there. How do you jump start these things. This is my first diesel and my first dual battery vehicle and I dont want to fry anything. I'm supposed to leave to meet my wife, and shes getting annoyed right now.
Put a dab of grease on the outside of the starter. If you see blue smoke coming up from down there, it's time to STOP cranking for a while. Ideally you don't want to get it that far.

Use low temp grease, if you use high temp grease it wont be the grease that smokes.
