Is this the water pump I want

Mind sharing which dealer that was? If it was one close to where you live now I could just go there. The Bowling Green Ford dealer is pretty much worthless, as is our Napa auto parts. I drive to Franklin if I have to get something from Napa.

You'd have to dig through the posts to find it, but I did an analysis with photo's to show the evidence of the difference between a Ford pump and a NAPA Gold one. There IS a quality difference, and it convinced me. I'll only use Motorcraft water pumps, and I dread the day we can no longer get them there.

I agree Mel. I need to do a water pump on my Ex..... and it will come from Ford or IH (I have the IH part #).... A lifetime warranty is "fine" for something that is "easy" to replace, like brake pads...... but not something that takes major digging to replace.

or an alternator. shoot I went about a month with a bad alternator. just put a charge on it overnight every few days. but a water pump, starter, power steering pump (steering and brakes) etc I will not buy from Autozone or advance.

A lifetime warranty doesnt mean nothin when its 11:00pm and youre 20 miles from nowhere.

You can get buy with that on an IDI..... when an alternator dies on a 6.0..... you don't have long. I left the house, drove about a half mile, stopped at a gas station and ran in to get a pop and cup of coffee. When I came back out, the stereo, automatic climate control and the instrument cluster were dead.... like the ignition was off.... the truck was still running, but.... the voltage had gotten low enough (around 9 volts) to cause the electronics to shut down. I drove back home... so in the mile, and 10 minutes the truck was running, I went from 12.5 is to 9..... so it is critical for me......

The people down at Autozone didnt find it funny when I made the comment that lifetime warranty meant that you'd spend the rest of your life changing the same part.

I've about written autozone off too now. I needed some very common brake fittings for a project at school. Autozone had 1 in stock, a package of 1. He said he could order more and they'd be there next day. I said I needed 16 and he said he'd have to call 16 stores around the state, as they all only had 1 each (and basically wasn't willing to do that). I asked if he could just get a bunch drop shipped from a warehouse or something, he said they did not have that ability. So I just bought them from Jegs in packages of 10 for a way better price and they were here in 3 days.
