Is my Pyrometer sending unit ok?

I just got a new Autometer Pyrometer to replace the stupid dual Hypermax gauge but I want to make sure the sending unit for the pyrometer is in the right place. Let me know what you guys think.

If I've seen correctly it is conected to the pipe that is directly connected to the manifold, that is the same place I have it ON and yes it should be fine. There are others that want to have it as close as possible to the manifold so there are a few spots closer than that I believe.

Yes it is in the pipe that is attached to the exhaust manifold.

Everyone I know that has one done has them in thier driver side exhaust manifold down by the flange.

Is you guage designed for being at the pipe? Reason I am asking is that their is a difference in the temperature from the exhaust manifold to the pipe. So if you are runnung close to piston melt you may want to reconsider mounting in the D/S exhaust manifold.

This is where it was when I bought the truck. It has the hypermax pyro/boost guage on it but I don't like this guage so I bought seperate Autometer ultra-light pyro and boost guages. Anyone know where auto meter wants the sending unit? So to put it in the driver side exhaust manifold do I need to pull the manifold to drill a hole and weld the bung in. Anyone have a picture of where they put their's.
