Ok, here are the sypmtoms: (I've been told the IP is bad, what do you think?)
When the cold engine first starts, it smokes A LOT of really light blue (almost white) smoke, and feels like one or more of the cylinders is not firing right. Then it clears out a bit, and every couple seconds you can feel a miss directly followed by a puff of smoke.
Then it finally clears out almost totally at idle (seems to have a very light haze constantly), but when it reaches s certain RPM, probably around 2,800 to 3,000 (no tach in a van), it starts missing and puffing smoke. Also, the exhaust kind of burns your eyes. I replaced all 8 glow plugs, and now it starts much better, but still lots of smoke on start-up. Other than that, runs fine, no blow by or burning oil.:dunno:dunno

The vehicle in question is not one of the ones I have listed in my "signature." It is a '92 with 161,000 miles- I think the injectors are original. The only thing is that it sat without beign started for 4 years. I was kind of thinking injectors, but I was told that they are so simple and the spray patter is so crude, that they are rarely the problem. I'm not saying that is true.

You were told wrong, most will agree that a new set of nozzles will help a lot, IF your pump is in good shape, it sounds like to me the IP needs rebuilt, you have all the classic signs of a worn out advance assy.
We just did my buddys pump and his starts like new again, and doesnt miss.
