I don't know if any of you follow Dave's Auto on you tube, but I ran across this one in particular that was fascinating to listen to. A lot of the discussion revolves around diesels. When Lake Speed Jr. started to discuss keystone rings I really started to listen. Never understood their purpose or why they were even used. If you can, listen to the whole video. I found it very informative from a guy who knows motor oils.

Great video. Now I know what Gap Less Rings are. Always wondered how you get a Ring on w/o a gap.

Lot of good info there, Need to watch again.

Same here - my question with the gapless rings are what guarantees the two rings maintains a “gapless” alignment? Wouldn’t it be possible for both ring openings to align causing a gap?

Pretty sure lake speed is much older than 20....

What is it about dave that is so hard to watch? The guy really does know most of what he talks about, IS an experienced mechanic, not just a guy who owns buisiness, seems to be focused on a very good final product for his customer (maybe?) over just profit. I just have a hard time with him for some reason.

Lake speed jr (the motor oil geek) has some pretty interesting videos and has the experience, or means to prove or disprove what he is talking about. Really enjoy his videos.

How ever old he is, he is not old enough to be talking about the old days.
