Injectors for 6.5 turbo?

Tried posting on the 6.5 forum but even the crickets are asleep over there

As some of you know I've been having knocking issues with Dad's 93 GMC over the last few months and I finally have tracked it down to a bad injector. So with that now confirmed I'm thinking it would be a good time to replace the injectors.

Locally they would be $70 each

On Ebay prices can be as low as $60 for an entire set of nozzles or ~$300 for a set of complete injectors. Sure wish some one would start selling nozzles for the 6.9!!!! but I digress.

Anyway, any opinions on a good source for injectors? Hopefully one that sells something decent without breaking the bank.

The price is tempting and I've done a nozzle swap on the range before.

Ive replaced lots of 6.2 6.5 nozzles. buy extras so you can be picky. set them to 25 pounds of each other less if possible.

I'd say check with Russ's source and see what he can do for you. He can probably get you a set of nozzles only. I've also seen the marine nozzles from Peninsular Diesel for marine 6.5s but they may be too smoky for your dad's truck. Another place you could try is US Diesel down in Texas, they sell, nozzles, shims, everything. It's just that by the time you could buy nozzles for a 6.9/7.3 you could replace the whole injector. This is apparently not true on the GM products. You could also check with JH diesel or OFI. Both of those shops seem to have a good rep.

Dad definately doesn't want anything that will make the truck noisier, burn more fuel or make more smoke. In generaly he doesn't even like diesels very much because of the noise but the reliability, power and economy cannot be beat so he's sticking with it. Truth be told I don't have a pop tester yet so nozzles aren't a good idea if I have no idea where they are popping off when they go back in. Already made contact with Russ and we'll see what he can do.

If he can't get them for some reason, I'll probably opt for complete injectors since we can't have his truck down for too long and I don't want to be messing around with it if something I did while replacing nozzles gets screwed up. Work is starting to pile up as it is.

The GM's run Bosch injectors, they're a good bit pricier than our Stanadyne stuff, that's why nozzles are common for them, same as for Cummins stuff, but different nozzles for our trucks would be nice.
