Yup,
I told him he needs to upgrade to a straight axle setup.
Told him I'd do the swap for him if he finds 2 setups.
Of course I'd only charge him the second axle setup for his install.
Looking at what may have went wrong was that one of the frame to housing bolts was missing, and the second one was finger tight. I'm thinking that and having a plow on the front end is what did it in.
There was only 2 inches of metal left that had not torn.
It had put so much strain on the axle shaft, that I had to cut the remainder of the arm off just to get axle out of the carrier assembly.
