I have a 1993 Ford F350 crewcab 4x4 single rear wheel long bed, The engine has 373,000 hard, hard miles on it, but it still starts everyday and runs fine, Lately I have been noticing its been either using or burning excessive amounts of oil, now my oil pan is really "junked up'" as this truck used to be a snow plow truck and the salt I guess got to the pan really bad , I fixed 1 hole in it and ever since no leaks from it. The other day I drove above Scranton,PA (about 260 mi)
and on the way home I checked the oil and was 4 quarts low! This is the first miles on a fresh oil change, (mobile 1 oil filter, Warren 15W40 oil, Lucas full synthetic oil additive/that mixes with all oil types). Yesterday I had to add another 4 quarts!, I have a new oil pan and gasket I just dont know how to replace it with out taking the engine out which I dont want to do without doing a rough rebuild, (gaskets, waterpump, fuel pump, headwork, injectors, etc). SO im kinda scratching my head wondering what the problem is, Im spending more on oil that fuel and thats BAD! Any thoughts?
