I know its been said a million times but WOW!

Unfortunately I cant hit the streets with it yet.but moving the beast around the yard I can feel the difference.much better pedal feel.never felt brakes like this on an f350! Gonna have to borrow a repair plate so I can really try it out.one thing I don't like is how high the pedal is.I need to find the right pedal for it or do the 5speed swap.

Been thinking of this great swap for a while. I would love the better braking and safety. No more white knuckle stops.

How much should I expect it to cost $$$?????

The repair plate is probably the temp moving plate afixed as a license to move it on the roads for inspection... Just my wag...
These hydroboost brakes more than double the pressure in the brake system to push the drums shoes and front pads to the rotors. Just adding the 1 5/16 master cylinder nearly clears up the rear brake issues with low peddle because the auto adjusters don't function properly ever...

All I know...Hydro the Bronco....wow...it was amazing the power of the brakes...thats the 1/2 ton brakes on it btw...LOL

Now working on getting a hydro for my 1 Ton next....I know where there is a setup..Hmmm

As for cost...it's all dependant on what you get and where you get it....NEW vs USED...

What are the 1 5/16 master cylinders out of and are any mods required to make it fit?

i'm suprised it took you this long to do this. you've owned 4 wheel disc brake F450's for years and knew about their stopping power.

Laziness I guess.plus never gave it much thought since it took a month just to get brakes on it when I bought it.the last one I did just wouldn't work right.couldn't get a pedal to save my life.

The repair plate is what garages and tow companies use to move cars.we dont have temp plates

im in the middle of this conversion too. i was fiddling with the push rod from the hydro boost unit that goes into the master cylinder. i was turning it and realized i might not want to be doing so, is it a set length and it just rotates freely? or is there a dimension as to how far out it needs to be and rotating it one way or the other lengthens or shortens the rod? by the way these are new parts. thanks!

I used a stock pushrod that I robbed out of a F-SuperDuty

I wrote down the dimensions before install in case anyone needed them

Hopefully this will be of help to you

bike maker, great diagram! thanks, it looks to be a set length. i assume it just snaps into place, so rotating it one way or the other shouldnt effect how much it will stick out. from what im seeing. right?

the turned down part is supposed to lock into a retainer. if you have a hydro missing the rod, the retainer is broken and missing. as a result, you need to be a little cautious on moving the hydro around and not loose the rod.

okay, thats the conclusion i was coming to from the picture of the rod. i was for what ever reason turning the rod like a screw and thought it might have shortened/lengthened the amount sticking out from the mounting surface for the master cylinder. IIRC the vacuum booster does just that and needs to be set at a certain length. thanks guys!

I found a web page with a Chevy (the horror) hydro conversion. The guy measured the preload on that rod by the gap between the booster and the master cylinder as 0.065". So if all you have is a grinder and some feeler gauges, you should be able to come up with something
