hp out of a 5.9

how much hp can be made out of a 5.9 with the in line pump having a hard time deciding between the 1st and 2nd gen. cummins to put in my truck i dont want anything real extreme but if i were to change my mind would like to know i could make big number on a dyno.

all pends on how much coin ya got to throw at it................1000hp is possible

for a conversion go with a 12 valver.....only neexd one hot wire to the fuel sylonoid and yer done

89 to 93 is a good 12 valver with the VE pump

94 to 98 is a 12 valver with the P-7100 pump

the auto had a 160 pump and the manual had a 215 pump

the untimate for a swap is a 94-98 with the 215

The biggest numbers (lowest cost to get there) come from the 94 and up p-pumped trucks.

and dont be confused looking at the 98 year vintage.....................they made a revision in 98.5 and its the first 24 valver

if ya search for a 98 cummins you will get both 98 and 98.5........the difference is that the 98 12 valver will have a "D" as the 8th didget in the serial number...........get that one
