All kinds of ***** I do that's well sometimes....just plain outside the box...no fuel pump.. no problem, siphon from the 5 gallon fuel can strapped onto the hood into the carb and drive down the hiway at 55 miles n hour to get to work...

been there, broke that.............
a 2 gallon boat can fits under the hood though, and then you have a primer bulb to fill the bowl

I dont use the clutch to shift. Im in the "it dont hurt it if you dont grind it" camp. I put 360k on a scout t18 that had 490k on it when i got it.never touched the trans or clutch. My 73'1210 i had for over 20 yrs was shifting fine when i sold it. My 02 jeep has 145k on its nv3500. All these cars have been shifted w\o the clutch the whole time i have owned them with no ill results.now im doing the same with the t19 in my f250

^ but none of the trans you mentioned was a zf.

I did it all the time in my 79 Chevy with the sm465. Way stronger than a zf.
Did it it a 94? S10. Also a nv3500 iirc.
Did fine with both.

It just depends on the trans itself how floating will affect it.

Like buying oil and freezing it for two days for a pour test, then taking that and burning it off ina hot pan...just to see what it does..!

There are other things too...drilling out jets ina carb when no jets are available,

floating my ZF 5sp cause people say it CANNOT be done! yes...YES IT CAN!

Floating a ZF is using the clutch only from a stand still start. After that you match the trans and engine rpm so the gears will match up when you shift without the clutch. So say it ruins the syncros and others say it does not. I can't say one way or the other because I run an E4OD auto trans. I hope some were not thinking a person actually was floating a ZF on a raft of some sort...

I'll answer this too...I shift with no clutch by matching driven speed to engine speed both up shift and down shifting..that's floating..I don't always do it however with every single vehicle I own that is a standard trans I make myself learn how JIC

Uh, back to the Hylomar topic at hand? <runs for cover>

Used Hylomar on my 7.3 (with VR HGs) when I had heads reconditioned about 1½ years ago. Between the Hylomar and ARP studs, no HG leaks. Instead, had a miss and a chuff.

ANYWAY, engine's out in recent days, and I'll be pulling off the 2-8 head. This should be interesting. I'll report how easy Hylomar is to clean up.....

Honestly ive never driven a zf. If i ever get one in the shop ill try it out.

You'll find that zf an expensive rebuild if that becomes necessary!!

Ill tell you what bad for for a z-f trans is resting your hand on the shifter. I had to rebuild 2 of them with 100,000 miles on them in tow trucks because the drivers would rest their hand on the shifter all the time. That wears the sycros right out of them. My own tow truck I had 250,000 miles on it never touched the clutch or trans and never shifted without clutch. And never let anyone drive it. I use to tell them if the wanted to hold onto something between shifts to hold onto their own shifter.

If your using Hylomar, two light coats should be sufficient. Prolly gonna need two cans for these gaskets.

Personally, I wouldn't use it on HG's. Works great on numerous other gaskets. Intake, T-Stat, ect.
