how long to install return lines & caps

I got the fuel return line kit and caps from Typ4...

...but now I need to also git 'roundtuit to put them in

I've done a lot of mechanical projects, but always have a hard time estimating how long something like this, which I have never done before, will take.

Don't want to get halfway into it and discover it's taken way longer than the time I'd figured, as this is my one and only vehicle. My boss is kind, but would take a dim view if I didn't show up due to having my truck apart.

Alas, I had to leave the six-packs behind, as they had a habit of turning into cases...

So it sounds as if it is something that can be done in a couple of hours?

get some vaseline (to make the orings slide a bit smoother, and a dental style pick (for removing the old rings).

Everyone has opinions on this, so this is just my personal way of doing it, and I have had no issues. IF in rolling the first o-ring on you can slide it down to the second position on the injector awesome, if not you can let it sit in the top channel and roll the second one over it.....if you try to move one from the upper position to the lower position using the dental pick you run the risk of damaging it.

Building the lines is a bit easier off the truck (as in grab the old set off and in tact and just replicate it on the bench...make sure you press all the caps down till they positivly "click" in place...the injector bolts DO NOT hold them down in any way.

all in all if its your first time allow 2 hours....with as many times as I have done it takes me maybe 45 mins.

If you have an ATS turbo charger with the big air box on top, it will take a bit longer. It's also better to wait until first thing in the morning while the motor is cool, instead of towing a hay trailer to Ocala & back and then working on it...

I like to use silicone grease to lube the O rings and the inside of the caps. It goes "click" much easier.
Napa sell tubes of the grease, or your local pool supply company sells it a O ring lube. Later when you take it apart to do it again the silicone grease seems to not have baked on and dis-assembly works better for me. Your call.

Pull one side off as a complete unit. Then cut the lines about 1/8 inch longer to fit. That way you wont be forcing a too small fit on the injectors. Its got to be clean so get that done...

Great suggestions, folks-- thanks. I already have a tube of Dow Corning #4 Silicone grease on hand from other projects, so I will use that on the o-rings.
