how do I start my 7.3 on the engine stand before installing it in my bronco?

can someone tell me if there is a posting somewhere on how to start my 89 7.3 on the engine stand before installing it into the bronco just to make sure everything works so I do it once and not work twice. I would like to know what 12v to connect to where?

I really wouldn't start any engine on the stand.. They are not designed for that. Post up a pic of the stand. Maybe someone will be able to help you out...

Top of the IP, driver's side, the plug closest to the front of the engine. You'll hear it click.

Aside from the basics of fuel, oil, and water, I can't think of anything else special you need to do. What kind of stand are you using? An engine run stand? Or just letting it sit on the ground? Are you even planning on hooking up a radiator system? Or just a quick start to see if it runs right?

my appoligies, I should have been more specific. The engine is sitting on a wooden pallet with supporting blocks under the engine mounts, at the same time the engine will be supported on top from a car lift arms with chains from the intake steel hooks, so it will still have room to move side to side while trying to start, but it will never fall off the pallet.

anyone on the 12v wiring conncections for the glow plugs and the pump?

I would also at least hook an oil pressure guage to it and if your not going to feed it with water, I would only run it for a few seconds.
You can make an adapter to fit your lower radiator hose and feed it with the garden hose, that will give you a little bit longer run time.
