horn issue....

ever since i tore out the cruise control, my horn quit working. i am guessing the power up the steering column was also sent threw the CC box. it quit right after i unhooked the black box under the dash. so my question is, what wire do i need to send power up the column to get power to the horn button?

I don't have cruise control and my horn ('88) works fine. So is this cause --> effect or just coincidence? If you plug the CC box back in does the horn function return?

unable to hook the box back up, long gone. i unpluged it cause for some reason it was sending 4 volts back the brake light signal when key was on. with the led lamps i had, they would light up. so i removed the box and no more light issues. i just figured with the CC buttons on the steering wheel and the horn there too, maybe the horn stole power from that instead of sending it's own wire up the column.

worked fine before removing CC.

I'm using my '88 wiring diagrams, so YMMV.

The horn switch w/o speed control is a separate switch. The horn switch with speed control is integrated in the speed control switch. So if you have removed the speed control switch (as well as the under dash box), you will have the symptoms you've complained of.

The speed control version uses a horn relay (location unknown to me), yellow/light blue power wire into relay from fuse 16 30A (hot at all times), with a dark blue wire out to C305, a crescent shaped connector on LH side of steer column. DB wire continues to voltage supply brush on steer wheel then to horn switch. Other side of horn switch is grounded via ground brush. If you ground DB wire, horn should sound.
