First timer here. I have a 2000 Ford F250 Super Duty 7.3 Diesel. I was driving my truck hauling my travel trailer on the highway when the engine suddenly STOPPED running. The lights on my dash lit up like a Christmas tree and I had to coast to the side of the road with no power steering. Once at rest, I tried to start it and it miraculously did. I just happened to be close to my diesel mechanic’a business. He ran a diagnostic test on it and it showed it needed a cam sensor replaced. Great, back on the road again! 75 miles down the road at a very busy city intersection, the EXACT same thing happened again! Thankfully again I was able to coast to the curb without anyone hitting me. This time the truck wouldn’t start and my truck and trailer were both towed to a local diesel mechanic where I’m now 30 miles away from camping destination. This mechanic also did a diagnostic test and now it showed “injector 8” needed to be replaced. It’s Friday, the part won’t be in until Monday. I’m patiently waiting for my truck.
My question is, has this ever happened to anyone? It’s extremely stressful, not once, but twice in one day. I’m very apprehensive driving it again, especially hauling a trailer. Any recommendations in walking me off the plank? Seriously, I’m hopeful this is the solution but any suggestions would be appreciated. (Sorry, about the length of this post)
