Woke up abruptly at 1am last night to a strange and constant very loud noise. Scared me, ventured all through the house, firearm in hand just in case, and it got louder towards the back door, where my truck is parked. The horn was stuck on! Blaring like crazy.. took me a bit to get the batteries disconnected. Hopefully my neighbors thought it was a lost train. Or something.

The horn has been doing funny things ever since I tapped it to wave goodbye to someone a month ago. It will just randomly honk while turning/driving. Where would you start diagnosing?

The other day my wife was driving KITT and one of the things in the steering wheel for the turn signal came loose and it started randomly honking until it jammed in there and it just HONKED until the fuse blew!!!! My poor wife in her hot Pontiac firebird, cruising through town honking!!!!

I prefer your story though, I like the idea of sneaking up on your truck and threatening "QUIT HONKING OR I'LL SHOOT........ THAT'S IT...... YIPPEE TIE YIE YOOOO...." BLAM!!! BLAM!!!! BLAM!!!!! LOL!

ive seen them do goofy things
LOL.
My first IDI, '85 RC C6, developed a condition where she honked from the first 1/4 turn left all the way to the stop...it's 'a wonder that I didn't get shot before I got parked (I was in Houston).
Anyway, clock spring was the culprit.

Well it went off again at 4am! Has anybody replaced their clock spring before and have some advice before I try?

Take a picture of the wires in the connector, I usually depin it to slip it between the column and the bracket. Oh and you'll need a good t bar to pull the steering wheel.

Ive gotten all of mine from napa. Make sure to specify if you have tilt vs non-tilt, they are different.

That could be dangerous in the wrong part of town late at night waiting for pedestrians to cross in front of you and the horn goes off.
